Mark Smith began his auction career at the young age of 13 working the ring and taking bids at his father’s livestock auction. At the age of 17 he was a calling bids for cattle at the weekly auction. By age 21, Mark was the lead auctioneer at two weekly livestock auctions in the state of Iowa while attending Iowa State University.
After graduating from Iowa State with a degree in Animal Science in 1980, Mark continued his auction business while also pursuing a career in ag finance and community banking. He held the position of President of four different community banks in Missouri and Iowa during a 40 year career. A 1978 graduate of the widely respected Reisch World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa, Mark has conducted auctions in Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Montana during his auction career. His expertise in farm equipment and farm real estate auctions is extensive. In addition, Mark has conducted auctions of a wide range of merchandise including antiques, collectibles, purebred cattle, horses, and construction equipment. Mark has been an auctioneer for over 1000 auctions during his career.
Mark is a member of the Missouri Professional Auctioneer and National Auctioneer Associations. He and his wife, Becky, also operate a commercial cow/calf operation on their ranch near Lincoln, Missouri. They are the parents of three children and have four grandchildren.
